Hommage A Pierre Jeanneret:
Born in Geneva in 1896, Pierre Jeanneret was a forward-thinking modernist who spent much of his career working in collaboration with his cousin, Le Corbusier. Jeanneret is known for his architecture, urban planning, and furniture designs. After spending 1916-1918 in the Swiss Army and studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, he opened an architecture practice with Le Corbusier in 1922. Together they designed architectural spaces and furniture pieces for over 20 years. Their collaboration took a hiatus when Jeanneret joined the French Resistance and Le Corbusier did not. One of their largest collaboration pieces was urban planning and architecture for the city of Chandigarh, India, where the Capitol Complex collection was used. The highlight was his design of 14 different types of mass housing for the city.
